Margot Jones established Purple Onion Catering Co. in 1990, from a true love of cooking and a commitment toward making the special events in people’s lives unforgettable. Infusing her own standards of quality, imagination and commitment to perfection, Margot’s leadership has allowed the Purple Onion Catering Co. to flourish through the years. Also realizing the importance of professional development, Margot is an active member of the International Caterers Association.

David Jones, Owner
Dave’s experience managing projects and implementing systems has been key to the growth of Purple Onion Catering Co. Since the formation of the company, he has structured the necessary procedures and programs to allow Margot to drive the company toward culinary excellence. He has implemented an infrastructure that provides enough control, but allows flexibility during difficult economic times. During this period the company has grown 1,110%. Through implementing new technology, he has been able improve the effectiveness of the sales team and operations department. To prepare for the future growth of the company, he oversaw the purchase and buildout of the company’s current facility located in the metropolitan D.C., area.
He graduated from George Mason University in 1988, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Dave is currently a member of Stratford University’s Department of Culinary Arts Advisory Board.

Kyle Gragasin, Executive Chef
Kyle Gragasin joined Purple Onion Catering Co. as our Sous Chef in 2011, after studying at the Culinary Institute of America. There, he held many internships including positions working under certified Master Chef Fritz Gitschner and celebrity chef Roberto Donna. After graduating and returning home to the D.C., area, this young talent spent three years practicing his craft and cultivating his culinary prowess. When Kyle joined Purple Onion Catering Co., it was clear that the combination of his broad pallet and creative approach would make for innovative and fresh culinary concepts. As executive chef, he brings an endless supply of passion to his daily work and has become an integral part of our operations and success.

Katy Jones, Event Designer
Katy joined Purple Onion Catering Co. in the beginning of 2012. She came to Purple Onion Catering Co. from New York where she worked as an event coordinator for an off-premise caterer. Being from Manhattan, she enjoys the fast paced speed of the catering industry. When it comes to events, Katy offers each client the perfect balance of passion and professionalism. She exceeds your expectations when coordinating all aspects of your private and corporate event; from a one-time meeting to an all day corporate occasion. With an outgoing nature and attention to detail, she works with her clients to create memorable events that leave a lasting memorable impression.

Margaret Zagrodniczek, Event Designer
Margaret Zagrodniczek joined Purple Onion Catering Co. in August of 2013. She is a local to the area earning both her Bachelor of Arts and masters at George Mason University. She began her career in birthday parties, events and design over 15 years ago. She loves listening to her clients input on taste, design and style which gives her “food for thought” in designing a personalized and flawless event. She specializes in mini destination weddings in Loudoun and Fauquier Counties. Whether the venue is Riverside on the Potomac, the Middleburg Barn, Blue Valley Vineyard or the Winery at Bull Run; she will collaborate with you every step of the way. She is organized, passionate, dedicated and has a personalized touch that makes for a STUNNING presentation.

Paige Bryan, Event Designer
Paige Bryan joined Purple Onion Catering Co. in June of 2013. After growing up locally, she stayed loyal to Virginia and attended Radford University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design with a minor in Marketing in 2011. For the next three years, she developed her passion for the industry working for Syzygy Events, which specializes in high-end events. Her bubbly personality and persistent drive make her an asset to our team. One of her main goals is ensuring her client experiences total satisfaction with their event, feeling as though everything they envisioned was brought to life! Her dynamic personality allows her to execute planning smoothly and to be a joy to work with.

Brooke Hickling, Event Designer
Brooke Hickling joined Purple Onion Catering Co. in the Fall of 2017. Originally from Ohio, Brooke attended Cedarville University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Strategic Communications. With some event planning and leadership experience in college, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in events. Off Premise catering has provided her the opportunity to work with clients on all aspects of the event from beginning to end. Brooke’s passion for people and organized approach to life makes her a pleasure to work with. One of her main goals is to make her clients feel important as she seeks to make their vision come to life.
